Dingo

dingo on paperLast autumn I went for a walk out near Fortress rock north of Leura, and I saw what I assumed was a wild dog. A spectral beast in the last light of the day. We both stopped and stared for a while. It looked a bit like a white husky cross – perfect for outdoor living at 1000 metres. I hadn’t realised there was such a thing as an alpine dingo but google told me about them, and they really look like what I saw. So I like to think it was a rare alpine dingo sighting. Yes, that’s exactly what it was.

This painting I’ve done is of the more traditional style dingo as seen recently on the Larapinta trail walk near Alice Springs.
