Last autumn I went for a walk out near Fortress rock north of Leura, and I saw what I assumed was a wild dog. A spectral beast in the last light of the day. We both stopped and stared for a while. It looked a bit like a white husky cross – perfect for outdoor living at 1000 metres. I hadn’t realised there was such a thing as an alpine dingo but google told me about them, and they really look like what I saw. So I like to think it was a rare alpine dingo sighting. Yes, that’s exactly what it was.
